Roger Borkhart

COAL VALLEY, Ill. -- Robert J. Borkhart, Coal Valley, died at home on April 24, 2002. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens mausoleum, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Emergency Services & Disaster Association or American Heart Association. Roger was born Oct. 12, 1938, in Moline, the son of Jesse Roger Orville and Bernice (Moody) Borkhart. He married Geraldine Latham on June 11, 1960, in Moline. Roger worked in construction. He was a laborer with Local 309. Roger was a member of Davenport Missionary Bible Church. He was a volunteer with Rock Island County Emergency Services & Disaster Association for 18 years. Rogers was a ham operator belonging to the Davenport Amateurs Radio Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Roger loved to spend time with his family. He had recently been selected by IESMA as Volunteer of the Year. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; daughters, Kimberly (John) Lemburg, LeClaire, Iowa, and Lisa (Bill) Burks, Sterling; sons, Roger (Lori) Borkhart Jr., Moscow, Iowa, and Todd (Kimra) Borkhart, Rock Island; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Orville (Joan) Borkhart, Coal Valley, and LeRoy (Loreen) Borkhart, Cambridge; sister, Anna (Lee) Cope, Coal Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
