Old MHS Building

My daughter will soon be moving into one of the apartments at our old schoolhouse.  When I first walked into the building, I didn't feel anything special, but when I walked up the stairs into the main hall I started to feel a little nostalgic.  When I reached the trophy cases that are still in place, what I saw became awesome to me.  The cases are filled with pictures and memorabelia, mostly from our class of '58.  There are pictures of sports, band, cheerleaders (I will never forget Julie Bennett's warm and friendly smile), one of Jeff Buck in his baseball uniform at bat with a grin from ear to ear (I think most girls had a "crush" on him at one time or another), and various other pictures.  Then, across the hall, there were some pictures from the class of '53 which was my Sister's class.  There was a picture of her and her husband when they were in the homecoming court.  Also, a picture and article of Don Sundquist, ex-Governor of Tennessee and my neighbor when I was growing up, and actor Ken Barry, Louie Bellson and others.  It was such a nice experience, and I will be able to regain some of the old memories every time I visit her in that building.  I thank God that I was a part of our generation, and wish my children and grandchildren could have had this better experience than the world that they face today.  Carolyn (George) Hibbs
